Hello everyone

Welcome to another edition of Kenja's Newsletter.

I have gone to the summer schedule a little sooner than anticipated, and we are now on a monthly schedule. I hope everyone enjoys the summer. *smile*

Site Related News:

As of August 1st, 2001 (read the article for more information), the mailing list for the newsletter will no longer be maintained with Listbot. All Listbot boxes will be removed from all pages within my domains and be replaced with the email sign-up format as seen at the bottom of this page.

Many themes previously unavailable for download located at Kenja's Desktop Themes (themes created by other authors) are now again available. Themes are sorted alphabetically and include: 7 Sisters, Alpha, Amber Eyes, Black Iris, Desert, Horse is a Horse, Jungle Waterfall, My Love, Night Light, Pandas, Polly Parrot, Rose, Space, Stonehenge, Tiger, Under The Sea, and Violet Lace.

I have added a new section full with Freebie Stuff that offers a full range of Free CD's, programs, contests, etc. One other section is called MemberWorks for great Coupons, huge Travel Discounts and up to 40% off on Electronics, or Arcamax CD ROMS for many full featured programs (i.e. Compton's Speaking Dictionary, Calendar Maker, etc) for $7.95 and shipping within the US is free.

Check out the Adorable Teddies in Print. All are hand signed and numbered, vary in size from 15½x11¾ inches to 17½x12 inches and come on high-quality cardboard like art print paper. Preview pictures have been adjusted in size and the Teddy House and Teddy Dollhouse allow for a larger preview of the whole picture instead of just one room.

Past Lives Revealed website offers original Inspirational & Angel Stationery for Outlook and/or Outlook Express users, free original Inspirational Greeting Cards, Mystical Desktop Themes & Wallpaper, Various Readings (Palms, Clairvoyant, Dreams, Past Lives, Missing Items/People, Tarot, Herbalists, and many more) or visit the website's own Chatroom.

The Gifts:

The Stationery (offered in EML Format packaged into ZIP to decompresses to any directory you choose and regular EXE format that will decompress to your Outlook folder on your hard drive) includes an original scrolling bordered background, and a midi. The Wallpaper is a non-related piece for 800x600 screen settings, also best viewed in high color of 16-bit or better. Graphics for both Stationery and Wallpaper gift are original creations made with PSP 7 (used various tubes and filters for effects).

If you are new to EML format Stationery, read the EML Help section for further instructions.

* PLEASE NOTE: Gifts are only for actual subscribers (available for 5-7 days with each issue) and not for visitors to the newsletter archive at the website.

*** NOTE*   I use Zip Magic to compress Stationery and/or Desktop Theme files into EXE format. If you ever get a password prompt during installation... ignore it and proceed. They are not password protected! For more help with installation(s) visit the Help section at either Stationery, Theme Help, and the Hotbar Skin Tutorial sections.

Email & Stationery:

A few great Stationery sites and other useful related email links and/or programs:

  • In light of the fact that a lot of people may be looking for a new way to maintain their email mailing lists, you may want to try this Freeware program (little over 3 MB) called Mass Emailer (this link is to download not to their website as it no longer exists). This is a great tool for anyone who needs to send the same e-mail message to large amount of recipients. This program allows you to create and manage mailing lists, the interface of the program is simple, and is written in six languages (English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish).

  • Another great program that lets you maintain your mailing lists, send HTML format emails in increments of 100 for the free version, attachments, and has some great free plug-ins (for all versions) is called Group Mail 3.2 The free version is banner ad supported but is still great for maintaining smaller lists (anything under a couple of thousand... I use the Pro version for my huge list). *smile*

  • Designs by Joy offers some very good step-by-step picture tutorials on how to use Outlook Express, Front Page 2000 (here is a link for the Microsoft version), Swish (lets you create Flash without having the Macromedia Flash program), WinZip (zip and/or unzip in Wizard and Classic mode), Paintshop Pro, FTP, and how to make Stationery. Joy also offers some stationery, tubes and web graphics. The selection in these section are not very big, but the tutorials alone make this site worth while for any beginner.

Mamselle Online carries some very nice and unusual EML format Stationery in 10 main categories (some like " and " have several sub categories). Irregular categories include: Birthdays, Monograms, Postcards, New House (moving), Thank You, just to name a few. She also offers a very detailed ASF tutorial (computer sound compression format). It shows you how to convert regular wav files into real small asf files (also a form of wav file), which then makes small (file size) but great sounding files usable for the creation of Stationery with full length songs.

Stationery by Sianne offers some nice Stationery in 10 categories to include: Angels & Fairies, Animals, Christmas, Bears, Bunny & Mice, Disney, Guests (stationery by friends), Scenic, People and Kids, and Floral. Individual Stationery are in zip format that are mostly left side borders with midi sounds. An exe format of all stationery listed on each page (instead of downloading individual files) is also available for download.

Stationery by Kay offers Stationery based on the art by 59 famous Artists (average of 6 sets per artist) to include but not limited to Jim Warren (fantasy), Bob Ebdon (birds), Monica Van der Weer (animals), Paula Vaughan, Danny Hahlbohm (Inspirational), Betty Spooner (Landscapes), Jason Swain (kids and people), just to name a few. This site too is a great find, so don't miss it. *smile*

Fonts and other Stuff:

This section includes a mixture free stuff Fonts, and some other sites and/or services that may be of interest:

  • Free Color Printers currently offers any US based organization or business (more than 1 employees) to apply for this free Xerox Color Printer (few thousand US Dollar value). Conditions for this offer include that you print between 2 to 4 thousand documents per month, buy all the printer supplies from their website, and turn in a monthly report. Please make sure to read the fine print, because you do not want to get stuck with a $75 to $100 US Dollars per month payment if you cannot fulfill the conditions for this offer.

  • Gas Price Watch is one of those invaluable websites. These days it pays to know what to expect in gasoline prices before you go on that trip or before moving to another state. Price comparison range from highest national average to lowest for both the US and Canada. Prices include automobile gasoline, heating oil and soon also Maritime (gasoline for boats etc.).

  • Fonts N Things offers mostly free TTF (True Type Fonts) for PC users, but also offers a great Font Resource page for Mac users. Everything is sorted by themes, categories and/or alphabetically. This site also offers a small 3-D font section, holiday section and of course a FAQ section (their version of a help page).

  • The Font Pool also offers hundreds of TTF (True Type Fonts) for PC but also over 158 TTF for Mac users as freeware, charity-ware, donation-ware and shareware. You can view the fonts by category, search for them, or read their tutorials on how to make your own and install them.

  • Fonts for Kids offers almost sixty free TTF for children, a Mickey Mouse Clipart gallery with static and animated art, and a Disney Greeting Card section. A cute site for both kids and/or Disney fans.

On the Lighter Side of Life -:)

The following is a cute little joke submitted by Clyde. Hope you enjoy it. *smile*

A Little Boy's Wish

A little boy wanted $100 badly and prayed for two weeks, but nothing happened. Then he decided to write a letter to the Lord requesting the $100.

When the postal authorities received the letter addressed to the Lord, USA, they decided to send it to President Bush.

The President was so impressed, touched, and amused that he instructed his secretary to send the little boy a $5.00 bill. President Bush thought this would appear to be a lot of money to a little boy.
The little boy was delighted with the $5.00 and sat down to write a thank you note to the Lord, which read:

Dear Lord,
Thank you very much for sending me the money. However, I noticed that for some reason you had to send it through Washington D.C. and, as usual, those jerks deducted $95.- !
